How can Quitlines support national health promotion media campaigns?

Quitlines are familiar and well branded in each member state and this offers a very simple, easy and recognisable user friendly communication channel to engage with the smokers, their friends, families and health professionals. They can be placed with ease on TV screens (instead of addresses) and memorised with ease (especially the golden numbers eg 0800 123456 or 0200 200 200).

Under the EC Directive on Tobacco Product Labelling and Display (2001/37/EC), many EU member states are now placing Quitline numbers on cigarette packs.
